convertimate Decibel gain

Decibels to voltage ratio

Type a value in dB to get it in × V instantly.

10× V

That's about the same as a hundred times. That is 100× the power, or 10× the voltage.

What it means

How much is that?

These are plain ratio decibels. Decibels with a letter after them — dBm, dBW, dBµV — are levels against a fixed reference, which is a different page.

The math

How to convert dB to × V

Decibels are logarithmic, and power and amplitude use different multipliers: dB = 10 × log₁₀(power ratio) but dB = 20 × log₁₀(voltage ratio). Back the other way, the ratio is 10^(dB ÷ 10) or 10^(dB ÷ 20).

Example: 20 dB = 10 × V.
