Frequency converter

Convert between hertz, kilohertz, megahertz, gigahertz, revolutions per minute and beats per minute, then watch a wave oscillate at the frequency you typed.

0.1GHz

That's about the same as FM radio. As a radio wave, one wave would be 2.998 m long.

What it means

What does that look like?

The wavelength shown is for sound in air at 20 °C (343 m/s). Radio waves travel at the speed of light, so their wavelengths are far longer.

About frequency units

Frequency counts how often something repeats each second. The SI unit is the hertz: one cycle per second. Mains electricity runs at 50 or 60 Hz, concert pitch A is 440 Hz, and Wi-Fi works at billions of hertz.

Engines and record players count the same thing in revolutions per minute, which is simply hertz multiplied by 60.
